Katies 21st

Katie wanted a really fab 21st birthday party. The criteria was groovy, hot pink with wow factor, steak and chips as the main course and no flowers as she didn't want it to look like a wedding. Not a great deal to go on!!  We have some great suppliers and funnily enough we started with the decoration. We went to see Margaret Mason who is amazing.  She suggested feathers in pink and black with crystals, black table clothes with pink napkins, black chairs with pink seats and a big reaveal so that no-one could see the dining area until it was time to go in. This created the mood and as you can see from the pictures the end result was amazing.  The reception area was beautiful but the reaction we got when we did the big reveal was incredible!

Entrance Marquee

From the decoration came the marquee.  We thought it would be a good idea to have the dining area on two tiers and this worked extremely well as there were no bad tables.  All the tables were set around the dance floor and we used square tables which gives a very different effect.  The one thing that made a huge difference to the final look was the lighting and you can see from the following two pictures the huge difference that great lighting makes.

Once the marquee, decor and lights were in place we needed to think about finishing touches.  We looked at living statues, fire breathers and stilt walkers and eventually settled on butlers in the buff!  Now my girls are pretty cool and they can deal with most things but I think a few of them were slightly out of their comfort zone when cuddled up to six gorgeous men with very little on!

Butlers & Our Girls

If you fancy a really special act take a look at Tenors and Divas Incognito.  We have worked with them a few times over the years but wasn't sure whether they would be Katies cup of tea.  They dress as members of staff, one helps serving canapes, one dresses as a matre d and announces dinner so all the guests have no reason to assume they aren't staff. When the moment comes the 'waitress' comes onto the stage with a microphone saying that its her last night before she leaves the company to get married and she would like to sing a song. She starts to sing and is dreadful, the maitre d storms out, apologising to all the guests at the behaviour of one of the staff and this is followed by an angry chef grabbing the microphone and launching into song.  They are magnificent, singing everything from Nessum Dorma to Queen, the guests join in and its a fabulous way to start the entertainment.  As you can see Katie loved it.

The only thing missing now is the cake and what a cake it was! It was made by John Slattery from Manchester who is amazing.  He completely got the concept we were looking for and came up with this fantastic cake that was a great focal point.
